Free Legal Seminars

These seminars do not, in any way, replace the professional services that can be provided by hiring an attorney. In fact, should you have the means to hire an attorney, we strongly suggest you do so.

During free legal seminars, a licensed attorney presents legal education on various topics including but not limited to divorce, child custody, tenant rights, and bankruptcy. These seminars are strictly to educate members of the community who do not have the means necessary to hire an attorney and have no means other than to represent themselves in a court of law. The attorneys do not provide direct legal services.

Free Legal Seminars take place throughout the year and topics may vary. For a list of upcoming seminars, check back regularly or call the Lafayette Bar Association and Foundation office at 337-237-4700.

If you are interested in requesting a particular civil legal topic seminar to be presented, please email [email protected] to make a request.

If you are an attorney who would like to volunteer to give a seminar, please call the office.
