Acadiana Legal Service Corporation, a non-profit legal services organization, announces the following position:
Staff Attorney for Litigation Unit
Must be licensed to practice law in Louisiana.
Our Litigation and Administrative Unit is looking for a licensed, full-time Staff Attorneys to represent low-income and elderly people in cases involving bankruptcy, collection/consumer issues, evictions, foreclosure defense, successions, wills and other civil matters in our Lake Charles office. Experience in the general practice of civil law is preferred but not required.
As a Staff Attorney, you may also be eligible for participating in the Louisiana Bar Foundation’s Loan Repayment Assistance Program. This program offers financial assistance of up to $5,000 annually to attorneys carrying law school debt. Additionally, The Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program through the U.S. Dept. of Education, currently forgives the remaining balance on your Direct Loans after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan.
These positions offer a competitive salary, depending on experience, and great fringe benefits. For the attorney positions, federal law prohibits an outside practice of law.
