November 2, 2018, is Love Your Lawyer Day, and Executive Director Josette Gossen has a message for all the lawyers we love:

It's Love Your Lawyer Day and here at the Lafayette Bar, we really do love our lawyers.

We love the lawyer who pays his dues two months early and the one who pays his dues 264 days late.

We love the lawyer who takes eight pro bono cases every year and the one who, out of the blue, calls and says, "Send me an interesting case," after not accepting a pro bono case in more than 10 years.

We love the member who, despite racing against the clock to pick up their own child at daycare, will still take the call from our Pro Bono Coordinator and agree to represent a survivor of domestic violence at a protective order hearing the next day.

We love the lawyer who shows up to nearly every event and the one who only shows up at the annual Christmas party. We even love the lawyer who doesn't attend a single event, but nonetheless recognizes the value in being a member of our local bar and faithfully pays dues each and every year.

We love the lawyers who are here every year on December 31st getting in those last few hours of CLE, and we really love those who agree to voluntarily present those much-needed hours.

We love the lawyers who volunteer for everything and the ones who simply drop by the bar office from time to time for a cup of coffee.

We love the young lawyers, fresh out of law school with their infectious enthusiasm and the more seasoned lawyers with their sage wisdom.

We love the lawyers who wake up every day and fight the good fight: representing their clients and making the world a better place.

(There is, however, one major exception – we most definitely do not love Nick Saban's lawyer this week, whomever that may be. Geaux Tigers!!!)
