2017 Bowling Tournament

The LVL Bowling Tournament to benefit programs provided by the Lafayette Bar Foundation took place on Friday, August 18th.

Bowling balls rolled and pins fell on the night of Friday, August 18, 2017, when the Lafayette Volunteer Lawyers hosted the annual LVL Bowling Tournament. Participants began arriving at Lafayette Lanes by 5:30 p.m. to start throwing practice balls down the lanes. As is tradition, participants were encouraged to show their team spirit and dress up according to the theme, “Game Day.” Many wore jerseys of their favorite collegiate and national sports teams while others designed their own t-shirts to wear as a team. Some teams were dressed up like concession stand foods, while others portrayed famous professional athletes. Over 35 teams competed for a spot in the winner's circle by each bowling two games. Throughout the night, lane numbers were drawn to win door prizes generously provided by local businesses.
After the final frame was played, every team's average score was tallied up to determine the overall winners of the tournament. First to be given away was the spirit award, which went to the two Becker & Hebert teams. They dressed as famous professional athletes and wore Sports Illustrated and Wheaties cereal box foam boards on their backs. The highest scoring male was Tony Tunh, member of Team Green Heart, with a score of 381. The highest scoring female was Angela Szoyka, member of team KH1, with a score of 305. Third place went to team Fuse Pros with an average score of 567.5. This team consisted of Joseph Thibeaux, Tim Johnson, Mark Johnson, and Brennan Roberts. Second place went to Team Green Heart with an average score of 686.5. This team consisted of Dakota Dinh, Tony Tunh, John Pham, and Michael Nguyen. First place went to team GJTBS 1 with an average score of 736.5. This team consisted of Ben Torian, Lucas Young, Rickey Pisani, and Keith Barnes.
