Summer Social 2017
Two special events came together as one overall success on the evening of July 20, 2017. The Young Lawyers Section (YLS) partnered with the Lafayette Bar Association (LBA) to host the annual Summer Social at Jefferson Street Pub. As usual, the Summer Social allowed members of the legal community to meet and greet new summer law clerks, but it also served as the Last Appointment Social for the Louisiana State Bar Association President Dona Renegar.
Guests began arriving at 5:30 in the evening, ready to network in a relaxed setting after a busy day in the office. Upon entering Jefferson Street Pub, guests were able to pick up some "swag" provided by MidSouth Bank, who underwrote the entire cost of the event. Drinks were served from the bar, including a signature frozen margarita, and delicious appetizers were placed on the main table.
At 6:30, LBA President Missy Theriot took the stage. She began by thanking MidSouth Bank staff, including State President Kevin Latiolais and Branch Center Manager Shelly Judice, for their generous sponsorship. Then, Missy introduced her friend, colleague, and the 77th Louisiana State Bar President, Dona Renegar. Dona proceeded to speak about her new presidency and expressed her gratitude for the help and support of her firm, Veazey Felder & Renegar LLC, and the LSBA staff.
As the night continued, guests entered their names into a drawing for a bottle of Glenfiddich Single Malt Scotch, provided by MidSouth Bank. Towards the end of the evening, YLS President Travis Broussard assisted the MidSouth Bank staff in pulling their winner, which was YLS President-Elect Jaclyn Bacon.
The success of this year's Summer Social was due to the generosity of MidSouth Bank, the attendance of the legal community, and the efforts of the LBA staff.
