Protective Orders

How to apply for help:

Once you have filed a Petition for a Protective Order, received your Temporary Restraining Order (TRO), and have a court date, call the Lafayette Bar Association at (337)237-4700 to schedule an appointment with Claire Prejean. You may also apply in person at the Lafayette Bar Association located at 2607 Johnston Street, Lafayette, LA. Applications are accepted Monday through Thursday from 8:30 AM until 4:30 PM and Friday from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. If you apply in person please bring your initial petition, TRO, drivers license, and any copies of police reports, photos of injuries, medical records, or pertinent evidence.
NOTE: This service is limited representation only and the obligations of the volunteer attorney do not extend beyond the Protective Order Hearing/Rule. This means the attorney cannot offer you any legal advice nor represent you in any other legal matter or future proceedings.
