Member Spotlight: Roya Boustany

In the first of a series of Member Spotlights, the Lafayette Bar Association is proud to feature Roya Boustany.

Roya Boustany has been a member of the LBA for five years, and in that time has held positions as a Board Member of the Young Lawyers Section and on the Mock Trial Committee. She was also recently named as one of ten Outstanding League Members by the Junior League of Lafayette for her service as Admissions Chair.

As a Felony Assistant District Attorney for the 15th JDC District Attorney's Office, she says that her favorite part of her job is her coworkers, who have become like family to her, but she also loves being in the courtroom.

When asked who her mentor or hero is, Roya said, “My father-in-law, Alfred Boustany, is my mentor/hero. After more than 40 years of practicing law, he epitomizes a lawyer who zealously represents his clients, has an expansive knowledge on many areas of the law, and strives to make his community a better place for his kids and grandkids. I pray one day I can be even half as amazing of an attorney as he is.”

As part of the member spotlight, we also want to know what our members do in their lives outside of the office. Here are some of the questions we asked Roya:

What do you splurge on?

Shoes, clothes and purses, but don't tell my husband!

What are three things you cannot live without?

My family, my iPhone and comfortable pajamas!

What is your dream vacation?

Yachting off the coast of Santorini, Greece. I am still holding out that dreams really do come true.

What is your favorite thing to do in Lafayette?

Attending Festival International or Rhythms on the River.

If your life had a soundtrack, what would the first song be?

“Something Just Like This” by The Chainsmokers and Coldplay.

The LBA is proud to have Roya Boustany as a member. If you would like to nominate a member for the Member Spotlight, please click here to email Jo Abshire.
