Bar Association Holiday Schedule

Included are days that the LBA will be closed for the Holidays:

2016 LBA Holiday Party

All of our members invited to the LBA Holiday Party on Thursday, December 8 starting at 6:00PM at the Lafayette Bar Office. Food and drink will be provided at the event (but you have to bring your own mistletoe).

Lafayette Jury Awards $30MM to Rayne Native Paralyzed by 18-wheeler

Blake R. David and Robert Brahan of Broussard & David, LLC and J. Marshall Montgomery of the Law Office of J. Marshall Montgomery represented the plaintiff. It is believed that the verdict over $30MM is the highest in the history of Lafayette Parish – surpassing a $21.4MM verdict obtained by Blake R. David in 2007. 

Extension of Deadline to Apply for LBA Board Seat

In light of the recent flooding, we have extended the deadline to submit applications for service as a member of Lafayette Bar Association Board of Directors until September 30, 2016. Board seats are for three year terms.  Service as a member of the Board of Directors would include monthly meetings and additional service in connection with the LBA committees or events.  We are looking for members with talent, energy and a willingness to serve the profession and the community.

Your Honor: Judge Michelle Breaux's Interview in The Promulgator

Judge Michelle Meaux Breaux was elected to the 15th Judicial District Court, Division E, in 2014. She is a Lafayette Parish native, having graduated from Acadiana High School, the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette), and the Southern University Law Center.
