ABA YLD Scholarship Program - Apply

About the Program
The ABA YLD Scholarship Program provides partial conference funding and an opportunity to become more involved in the Division. Scholarship categories include: General Practice, Solo & Small Firm Practitioners; Government, Public Sector and Military Lawyers; and Minorities in the Profession. The Application deadline is April 30, 2011. Visit the ABA YLD website for more information and a link to the online application. About the Division
The Division is committed to assuring it is best able to represent the newest members of the profession, ensuring that it reflects the society it serves, and providing young lawyers and young lawyer organizations with the tools and opportunities for professional and personal success. Individual membership is open to American Bar Association members under 36 years old or admitted to practice for five years or less. Affiliate membership is open to young lawyer organizations and special interest bars. There are no additional membership dues.
Applications

A completed online application form - which includes:

  • An application letter outlining why you would like to become involved in the ABA YLD
  • A biography
  • A resume
  • Two to four letters of recommendation. Examples include letters from current or former employers and fellow practitioners.

Michaelle Pitard Wynne Professionalism Award. This award is given to a young lawyer for commitment and dedication to upholding 
the quality and integrity of the legal profession and consideration towards peers and the general public.
• Outstanding Young Lawyer Award. This award is given to a young lawyer who has made outstanding contributions to the legal 
profession and his/her community.
• Service to the Public Award. This award is given to a local affiliate organization that has implemented a program or provided a service 
to that local community by which the non-attorney public has been helped.
• Service to the Bar Award. This award is given to a local affiliate organization that has implemented a program or provided a service that 
has benefited and/or enhanced the attorney community in that area.
• YLS Pro Bono Award. This award is given to a young lawyer for commitment and dedication to providing pro bono services in his/
her community.
